My name is Giulia Pirozzi. I am from Messina, I am 22 and I study Foreign Languages and Literature at University of Messina. I am doing an EVS project in Las Rozas de Madrid (Spain) in Adefis Juventud Internacional organization.
European Voluntary Service represents a great experience both personally and for the future professional life. It has given me the opportunity to grow under different points of view. After five months, I can definitely say it is worth it. My EVS showed me that once taken the risk, and out of the comfort-zone, a new world opens. All it takes is to have enough courage to give up what you have and stop doing what you do to open the mind toward new experiences and new opportunities. As an EVS volunteer, I understood that Europe and the whole world is very small. The real adventure begins when you leave your own country and meet people from different parts of Europe. This is the most interesting thing: to know different people, with their stories and their motivations. This experience has changed my life and opened my mind; I have discovered differences and similarities of people with different languages and cultures and the differences have become points of strength between us, so I understood that I am never alone. This experience has taught me that language is not a barrier if you are open to new people, cultures and traditions from which you can learn a lot andeven appreciate your own culture better. I cooperated with an NGO, writing and organizing many projects. I have improved my professional skills and my knowledge on different political and sociological issues, such as the refugee crisis, gender violence, democracy, etc. I have to communicate in a language that I thought I knew a lot before, but I have realized that there is always something more tobe learned to be able to work in a more efficient way and communicate with a society that is available to welcome me. I have the opportunity to share my ideas and increase my creativity in the different daily tasks. At the office, we have established a climate of trust and it is easy to work together, achieving positive results. We keep this kind of relationship even outside the office, spending our free time together. I have found a second Spanish family and every day is a pleasure to go to the office. However, we work hard, and there is always something new or new tasks that make me develop new skills and competencies. I am facing many responsibilities that have given me the opportunity to challenge myself and develop my character and maturity.The most important thing for me is that I have improved my self-trust. I think an EVS is a great opportunity to learn languages and gain more confidence in their daily use. Given that Europe is giving us this opportunity, it is a pity not to take advantage! Hello! My name is Tomek. I am 24 years old. I am from Poland. I am graduated from Institute of Polish Culture in the University of Warsaw. I am a proud member of Erasmus Student Network. I was a National Coordinator of ExchangeAbility. This project aimed to support inclusive education for all students in Europe. Moreover, I was awarded by several exchange programs in Europe. My interest in European projects started with an adventure of working in the office of one Turkish universities in 2015. Therefore, I speak 4 languagues: Polish, English, Spanish and Turkish. I wish to learn in the future Arabic.
Currently, I am doing EVS project in the office of Adefis Juventud Internacional. I am looking for a great development regarding my project management skills and marketing in the area of NGO institutions. Since I arrived I was warmly welcomed, I will spend in Las Rozas 9 months. |
