JOURNEY TO A CULTURE OF PEACE
|
For the project "Journey to a Culture of Peace" two experts from our Ngo, Adefis Juventud Internacional, have been to Jordan for fourteen days in early April 2017 to observe on spot what the real situation of all refugees is, and how the Jordan government reacts to help this population. Our association has been at all times supported by the experts from the Jordanian Ngo Uri Mena. Its objective is to promote peace, conflict resolution, and capacity building between two promoting entities, in order to become peaceful agents of change and social transformation through new initiatives of intercultural education for young people, based on the promotion of the culture of Peace. The "Uri Mena" association from Amman has been selected because its main objectives are the promotion of peace and respect between cultures, the eradication of violence generated by religious motives, the intercultural dialogue, the strengthening of civil society and the creation of a culture of justice and peace among the youth of the world. The "Adefis Juventud Internacional" association from Las Rozas de Madrid calls for collaboration with those people who are in extreme poverty, where there are defenseless people who need help from all of us, children in particular. |
Jordan has several refugees campus, but the largest one is named Zaatari where about 80,000 refugees are accommodated (it is the second largest refugee camp in the world). It is situated in the desert, about 15 km from the Syrian border. |
